Born September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas, Beyoncé was into music from a very young age. Singing from the time she was around 5, she created the girl group "Girls Tyme". They competed on the television show "Star Search" where her and her group won second place. Her father later ended up becoming a full time manager of the group, helping evolve in into the next sensation it would become.
"Girls Tyme" ended up turning into the well known group many of use know as Destiny's Child. The group went through any different members, including Letoya Luckett, Lativa Robinson, and Farrah Franklin, but ended with the final 3 of Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and Beyoncé herself. The group released a total of 5 studio albums with chart topping songs like "Say My Name", "Bootylicious", and "Survivor". The group took a break in 2002-2003, to pursue solo options in the music industry, reunited for a year or so after, but ultimately parted ways for good in 2005. The girls still remain close friends and have had many appearances and performances together since.
Beyoncé's solo career is one for the books. Releasing her first solo single "Crazy in Love" in 2003, she skyrocketed as an artist from there on out. Still in the music industry to this date, she has released 6 solo albums, Dangerously in Love, B'Day, I Am... Sasha Fierce, 4, Beyoncé, and Lemonade. She has, as well, released a joint album with rapper., and husband, Jay Z, called Everything is Love. Her latest release, in collaboration of many different artists and in association with the remake of "The Lion King", called The Lion King: The Gift. She as well has released many live albums, from various performances, including a full album of her recent performance at Coachella in 2018.
From the albums listed above, Beyoncé has had many hits that topped the charts throughout the years. "Crazy in Love" previously mentioned, was her first hit that started her solo career with her bang. From there, she had tons of other well known hits including, "Irreplaceable", "Single Ladies", "Halo", "Love on Top", "Run the World: Girls", "Drunk in Love", and "Formation".
Beyoncé also has dabbled into a film career, starring in multiple movies. She has currently been a roll in the films: "Camren: A Hip Hopera", "Austin Power in Goldmember", "The Fighting Temptations", "Dream Girls", "The Pink Panther", "Cadillac Records", "Obsessed", "EPIC", and the remake of "The Lion King". Not only has she been featured in these films, but has also made her own films and documentaries herself. "Life is But a Dream" was her first documentary she released in 2012, which aired on HBO, and her most recent being "Homecoming", the Netflix original all about the preparation, experience, and performace at Coachella. She has also released a few tour DVD's that aired on platforms like HBO and ABC, and even made a film called "Lemonade" in correspondance to her album, including multiple videos and interludes around her songs.
She had done many noteworthy tours and performances through the years. In total, she has done 5 solo tours, ranging from arena to stadium level, and 2 joint tours with Jay Z. She has performed at many popular events including the Super Bowl three times, twice as a halftime performer and once performing the national anthem. She as well has done music festivals, liek Coachella, and dozens of music award show performances as well, from the VMAS, to Billboard Awards, to the Grammys.
Through her success, Beyoncé has won many awards throughout her musical career. In total, she has won nearly 350 awards for different songs, albums, performances, etc. This large number of awards includes 23 Grammys, 24 VMAs, 11 Billboard Awards, 3 Guiness World Records, and 1 People Choice Award.
On April 4, 2008, Beyoncé and famous rapper, Jay Z, got married after dating for many years. They had released many songs, including Bonnie and Clyde '03, Crazy in Love, Drunk in Love, etc. together, as well as their joint album. They has lso gone on two world tours together, On the Run Tour in 2014 and On the Run II Tour in 2018. Their marriage has always been a hot topic, but news of infidelity, and cheating by Jay Z, broke headlines back in 2014, and was confirmed by the couple through their music on the albums "Lemonade" and "4:44". They have remained married, despite the events, and have happily, released music and toured together since. The couple is reported to now have a combined networth of over $1 billion.
Beyoncé and Jay Z are not only married, but have a total of three children together. Blue Ivy Carter, born January 8, 2012, is their oldest daughter, which has a small music career going for herself, included in around 3 songs between Beyoncé and Jay Z, and has made multiple appearances in their documnetaries and at awards shows with the couple. Sir Carter and Rumi Carter, boy and girl twins, are also children of the two, born on June 13th, 2017. Beyoncé has also opened up about pregnancy issues, discussing a heartbreaking miscarriage she had, prior to the birth of Blue.
In all, Beyoncé has been in the musical game for over 20 years, and has had multitudes of success throughout her life. She continues to make music and work, continously finding ways to progress as an artist, and change the ways of the musical industry. One of the most recogniable figures in our society, she continues to grow and hold this status. I, myself, am looking forward to see what the future has in store for her and her career, excited to see what is to come next.
